What treatment does Steps2Wellbeing offer?

Steps2Wellbeing operates a stepped treatment model, depending on how mild or moderate the patient’s presentation is.

Step 2 support (Low Intensity) is given by a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) and is usually 4-6 sessions of guided self-help, an online course or a computerised package, all based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT.

Step 3 support (High Intensity) is given by Cognitive Behavioural Therapists or counsellors.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapists offer short term individual CBT sessions and specific groups for disorders like panic disorders, social phobia, depression, post-traumatic stress and anxiety.

Counsellors offer between 6 to 8 sessions for depression, which may also include problems like bereavement, adjustment and coping with major life events,.

Each patient’s needs will be assessed by our team of professionals, and the best course of treatment recommended to them.

How long will my patient have to wait?

Our innovative digital treatment options means that we can offer some patients treatments sooner, depending on their needs.

Patients will be assessed within 2-4 weeks. Those who would benefit from group-based therapy or an online package can often start treatment in a matter of weeks.

There are longer waits for individual treatment which vary depending on the intensity of treatment required and how flexible people are about the way they access therapy and their availability.

We are working to expand the resources available to patients while they wait for treatment. Patients can download the ORCHA approved, Wysa app to help manage symptoms of depression and anxiety.

We encourage referrals to be made as early as possible.
