Steps2Wellbeing Services expand across Southampton
Wednesday, 2 April 2014
Dorset Healthcare Trust has been successful in extending its contract to provide psychological therapies services for the people of Southampton.
The move was announced following a re-tendering process undertaken by NHS Southampton City CCG.
The Service will now be expanding to take over responsibility for the provision of the Primary Care Counselling Service, previously managed by Southern Health, from 1 April 2014.
The Trust has impressive experience in providing these services being one of the national leader sites to pioneer this work in 2008 across Dorset and then successfully winning the Southampton City Contract in 2009. Dr. Colin Hicks, Associate Director for Psychological Therapies said: 'We are delighted to have extended this contract as well as taking-over responsibility for the management of the Primary Care Counselling Service. This is an excellent opportunity for the Trust to continue building upon the work previously undertaken, to ensure that patients receive a seamless transition of care, benefiting from our experience of providing early and immediate access to these important Services'.
